Updating Your Makeup for Fall

To me, fall is the most beautiful season of the year. During this amazing time, I love to travel to a nearby mountain town in order to look at the colorful leaves on the trees. Besides shopping for new clothes, I also strive to update my makeup when the weather gets cooler outdoors. I prefer wearing pastel colors of makeup such as pink, peach, and lavender during the spring and summer months. However, when fall arrives, I like to start wearing darker, richer shades of color such as red, burgundy, and amethyst. These darker shades of makeup complement the black, chocolate brown, and gray colors of fall clothing in my closet. On this blog, I hope you will discover smart tips to help you update your makeup collection for fall. Enjoy!

How To Create The Smokey Eye Look

Beauty & Fashion Blog

Smokey eyes are seen in magazines on models and on celebrities everywhere. This look is gorgeous and you too can rock this look for a date night, wedding, or even for a night out with your friends. This look can sometimes be difficult to achieve, but you can do it yourself if you have the right makeup. See below for tips and instructions on how to create the smokey eye look.

Makeup For The Job:

  • Kohl eyeliner (in black)
  • Smudge sponge
  • Quad eye shadow
  • Black mascara
  • Brow kit

Instructions:

  1. Start by first using makeup remover so you have a clear and clean pallet to work with.
  2. Once your old makeup is completely removed, use the kohl eyeliner and apply it to the upper lid from the outer edge to the inner corner of your eye. Then line your bottom lid from the outer edge to the inner corner. Repeat for your other eye so they are both even.
  3. Next, use the smudge sponge to smudge your eyeliner so you no longer have a definite line. Lightly rub the line so you just smudge, not remove the line.
  4. Take the quad color eye shadow and using the darkest color begin to apply it to just the outer edge of your eyelid and up to the brow bone.
  5. Then take the medium color and apply to the center of the eyelid, slightly blending it with the darkest color.
  6. Next, take the lightest color and apply it to the inner corner and blending it with the medium color. Also apply the lightest color to the brow bone (above the medium/dark color).
  7. Finally, apply your mascara to the top and bottom lashes. Apply a second coating to really coat your lashes. Be careful not to get mascara on your eyelids where you just applied your eye shadow.
  8. To help define your eyes a bit more, fill in your brows using a brow kit to really make them pop. Be sure to use a color that matches your existing eyebrows so they blend well.
  9. Repeat all of these steps on the other eye so both of your eyes match exactly.
